Draycote 50th Anniversary Family Fun Day Saturday 13th July 2019.
Just to call out what an excellent day Saturday was and big thanks to Mark J Jones for being point of contact and organising this with Severn Trent and The Lodge.
Mark J Jones, Paul Walley, Brian Froggatt, Brian Allwood, Paul Farrell and Jason Sly helped with the very successful Fly Fishing taster sessions on Saturday. Even with six of us working hard all day long it was a battle to keep up with the queues of people waiting to have a go. A big thank you to each of them for giving up their Saturday and making it a fun day for so many families.
It was a great team effort and a massive success with the DFFA stall being one of the most popular of day with a steady stream of people of all ages inquiring about fly fishing, getting some casting lessons and then a 45 minute boat taster session. I believe we have drafted in a new member for the club and have wetted the appetite of a few potential fly fishers - happy days.
A big thank you to all of you for your individual support prior to the event and on the day, It was a great success and we had great fun showing many people what fly fishing is all about. It was incredibly busy and we received some excellent feedback from the day.
Some photos of the Draycote fun day fly fishing tasters are available from the link to my Google Photos album below.

Final evening match this Friday 19th July, 5.20pm at the lodge, hope to see some of you there.
Six of us fished the last evening match (see the Single Fly attached) and 4 of us had a beer at the club in Dunchurch afterwards.
An enjoyable evening and it was good to catch up with a few of you after a successful Gordon Griffiths One Fly competition, which was won by Brian Allwood in the last 5 minutes of the competition bagging a lovely 3lb rainbow having caught another earlier in the evening, BJ and myself also caught two a piece and we had several takes and lost fish through the evening with lots of fish showing at the surface making a meal of the sedge hatch. Dave Adkins also had a lovely rainbow to come fourth. Adrian was unlucky having been snapped off and losing the two flies for the competition to a fierce browny... Grrrr, but having further successful strikes and a couple of lovely fish to the net as the sun began to set.
A big thank you to Ray Rouse for supplying the flies.
More photos to come when they have been collated.
Hope to see you on Friday .
