The next match is Friday 23rd July - CANCELLED

Hi Folks

The second Friday, 28th May 2021  evening bank match was fished by a total of 8 members on a warm evening with overcast skies and a flat calm, slightly lower on numbers than usual due to injuries and family commitments on a bank holiday weekend.

Dave Adkins came 1st with 7 fish to the net.

Anthony Hart came 2nd with 5 fish to the net and a first fish time of 17.50

Paul Walley came 3rd with 5 fish to the net and a first fish time of 19.18

A total of 22 fish caught in the 4-hour session with calm and dry conditions throughout.

Great to see you all.

We wish Brian Froggatt a speedy recovery from his leg injury and hope to see him back fishing soon.

The next match is Friday 11th June

Hi Folks

Friday 11th June.

The third Friday evening bank match was fished by a total of 11 members on a warm evening with cloudy skies and a stiff westerly breeze. A lot of weed to contend with in most areas due to the preceding hot and sunny days.  The fish were 70 yards out for most of the session with very few fish showing. The boats were doing well along Hensborough bank, but the shore line was very quiet until the last half hour.

We were expecting good sport in the conditions,  but the fish know best.

Paul Walley came 1st with 3 fish to the net.

Paul Farrell came 2nd with 2 fish to the net.

Anthony Hart came 3rd with 1 fish to the net.

A pike and a perch were also caught during the evening session.

We wish John Hanlon a speedy recovery following his 2nd shoulder operation.

The next match is Friday 25th June. Meet at 5pm at Toft, hopefully with a good evening rise and the fish closer in.

Great to see you all.

Cheers

Hi Folks

25th June 2021

The fourth Friday evening bank match was fished by a total of 11 club members on a cloudy evening with flat water and no breeze to start.  The wind got up coming from a north easterly direction and the fish that were moving on the surface disappeared.  A sedge hatch came and went a couple of times during the evening and all the fish caught were on a sedge pattern.  The boats did not fair much better than the bank anglers with the change in wind direction and cooler air having a marked affect.

William Hunt came 1st with 1 fish to the net and a time of 19.30.

Anthony Hart came 2nd with 1 fish to the net and a time of 20.45.

Paul Farrell came 3rd with 1 fish to the net and a time of 21.25

The next match is Friday 9h July. Meet at 5pm at Toft, hopefully with a good evening rise and fish closer in.

Great to see you all.

Cheers

Hi Folks

Friday 9h July

The fifth Friday evening bank match was fished by a total of 12 members on a cloudy evening with flat water and little breeze from a southerly direction. The cloud got darker and we had two prolonged periods of heavy rain during the evening. No fish were showing on the surface for most of the evening with members spread all round the reservoir trying different methods and flies.  A couple of sedge hatches later in the evening but no fish taking interest.

The final tally, 0 on the score card for all, with the trout having the last say.

The next match is the Gordon Griffiths One Fly Competition on Friday 23rd July. Meet at 5pm at Toft.

This is the last evening match this year. The next bank match is the Autumn pairs in October.

Great to see you all.

Cheers

Mark JJ

OK folks

After careful consideration and taking on the views of several members,  I am going to postpone Friday's evening bank match.

The water temperature is very high and I think it would be an unproductive evening.

I will happily consider alternative evenings as soon as the water temperature drops to a fishable level.

Sad not to be seeing you all, but we will be out again once this hot spell passes.

I hope this decision is received well, as I think it is in everyone's interest including the fish.

Cheers Mark JJ
